Jose is a male Solomon Island Eclectus Parrot who resides in Anchorage, Ak. with his mom, Yvonne, and his Conure sister, Rico
“Twas the night before Christmas and I did something bad,
Rico had warned it would make Mama mad.
Nestled on our perches all snug in our cage,
Suddenly Mama flew into a rage!
Mom was cooling some pies on the counter you see,
And my eyes started pinning! I was feeling such glee!
Soon Mom left the room, and I dreamed of a snack.
So I sat on my perch and planned my attack.
Resistance was futile the smell was so good,
I flew from my cage. On the counter I stood.
I landed ungracefully, hit with a clatter!
Knocked over a cup and the contents went splatter!
Rico was cringing, she knew what was coming.
She was watching to see our mom come a-running.
But my focus was not on the mess I had made.
The treasure before me! I was bold, unafraid!
Pumpkin and apple! Pecan pie too!
Mincemeat and tarts, I was in heaven! Woo hoo!!
Glancing around to make sure Mom was gone,
I headed toward that pie with pecan.
As I nibbled the edge and tore open the side,
Rico ran for the happy hut where she could hide.
“What a wimp!” I thought as I proceeded to eat.
Rico is missing a real good treat!
The taste was exotic! So very De-lish!
Mom went all out for this pecan pie dish!
I jumped on the top and buried my beak,
Then in sheer excitement I let out a shriek!
I sunk through the crust and my feet went in deep,
My toes got real sticky... I continued to seep.
“I am the man!” I started to yell,
As I flew to my cage and thought all was well.
Closing my eyes with pride and content,
I suddenly heard my mom start to vent!
The rest dear reader you can probably guess,
Mom was so peeved because of my mess!
I know I was bad, definitely not good,
Would I do it again? Oh yes! YES! I would!”
