Dear Mother
By Lorry Burgr
You were not there when I was born.
We met much each other later in life
But coming out of my shell,
dear mother, I do for only you!
The first time I walked around my cage
plenty big enough for two
I looked around expectantly
and raised my wings up high for you
I came out of my shell
The first time I played
with a toy built just for me
How I did scream so joyously
I came out of my shell for you
The first time I came striding
out of the cage, I climbed
to the very highest point
Triumphantly, I cheered to you
I came out of my shell
And dear mother,
the first time I said, “I love you!”
The tears rose in your eyes
I came out of my shell for you
You were not there when I was born
but with you I have new life.
Let us not waste our
glorious time together
For both of us it is a brand new start
You rescued me but I give you my heart
For you dear mother,
I come out of my shell
